The American Legion
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.

Our post was organized by all WWI veterans. We have all the history dating back to the first day of the post. We have discharge papers, death certificates, original charters and many original pictures. The first honor guard was formed in 1919 being called the Minute Men. There were 6 original members. The Minute Men still exist today with 23 members performing Military Honors at funerals, marching in parades and participating in other functions.
